"Public Opinion joins MediaOnePA"

MediaOnePA announced today that the Public Opinion located in Chambersburg, PA will officially join the group on May 1, 2010.  MediaOnePA launched in December 2008 by MediaNews Group to regionalize newspaper, website and magazine holdings throughout Southcentral Pennsylvania.  The MediaOnePA brand encompasses the York Daily Record, The York Dispatch, York Sunday News, the Evening Sun of Hanover, PA, The Lebanon Daily News and the Public Opinion.

Public Opinion serves the greater Chambersburg and Cumberland Valley as the largest daily and only Sunday newspaper in the area.  Founded in 1869 by M.A. Foltz, Public Opinion remained in the Foltz family until 1964, when it was purchased by McClure Newspapers.  In 1971, Public Opinion became the 27th newspaper owned by Gannett Co. Inc., which publishes USA TODAY.  In 2005, MediaNews Group, Inc became the majority partner in ownership of the Public Opinion.
